The annual Streamer Awards have come to a close, with 27 categories awarding winners to a variety of streamers and content creators.
The first annual Streamer Awards, hosted by Twitch streamer QTCinderlla, have concluded, bringing together many of the industry’s most popular and successful streamers and content creators. The Streamer Awards, hosted by QTCinderella and Maya Higa, featured 27 different categories, drew over 380,000 viewers on Twitch, and lasted approximately two hours and forty minutes. Following the conclusion of the show, fans can watch the entire The Streamer Awards 2021 or peruse the list of winners at their leisure.
The Streamer Awards were created in three stages. The first phase, which ended in early February, allowed fans to vote for each of the award show’s 27 categories. Three of each category’s four nominees were chosen based on the sum of those votes.
A panel of Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook industry commentators, writers, journalists, and organization owners selected the final nominee. In the second phase, fans voted for their favorite nominees. The winner of each category was determined by a weighted combination of 70% popular vote and 30% panel vote. The third phase was the actual show on Saturday, when the winners of each category were announced.
Ludwig, Mizkif, Sykkuno, and xQc were nominated for the show’s most prestigious award, Streamer of the Year. Ludwig, not xQc, won the award, which came as a shock to many in the streaming community. Ludwig says in his speech that he had “one good month” and that he hopes to turn that into “one good year” in 2022. Ludwig also hinted that he’s glad he got one this year because he won’t be able to get one next year.
The Gamer of the Year Award, which is given to the streamer with the most “extraordinary gaming abilities,” went to former Counter-Strike pro Shroud, the Legacy Award, which was given to Pokimane, and the Rising Star Award, which was given to variety streamer and podcaster Stanz.
Despite a number of criticisms, particularly regarding the method of selecting nominees and award winners, the Streamer Awards went off relatively smoothly and without incident. It will be fascinating to see how the Streamer Awards change and evolve in the future.

It’s difficult to call The Streamer Awards anything other than a success in their first year. It may not have blown Twitch to new heights in terms of viewership, but it was still impressive. It deserves a lot of credit for being largely put together within the streaming community, specifically by QTCinderella. In 2023, the Streamer Awards are expected to return.
