The gaming company One True King, also known as OTK, is based in Texas and primarily focuses on streaming and content creation. Its five co-founders Asmongold, Rich Campbell, Esfand, Tips Out, and Mizkif founded it in 2020, and Nmplol soon joined them. They are each independent Twitch stars. They even had a professional World of Warcraft team, but after some time they decided to dissolve it.
The company won the Best Content Organization award at the 2022 Streamer Awards after climbing quickly through the ranks to establish itself as a top-tier content producer. The group is renowned for its tight-knit relationships; Asmongold even highlighted their intense friendship in the commencement speech.
On October 11, 2020, Asmongold, Mizkif, Tips Out, Richard Campbell, and Esfand joined forces to form One True King. Nmplol became the first member of the group when he joined them in a fortnight. JSchaltt joined the group as a second member and co-owner on May 23, 2021. The organization’s wiki states that the streamer was assigned responsibility for their YouTube content.
By the end of the year, OTK had added two more people, but this time they joined as sole content creators rather than co-owners. On October 11, the organization’s first anniversary, Cyr became a member.
On November 21 on the OTK show Friendsgiving, Tectone followed suit and joined the Texas collective.
Emiru joined the group on January 2, 2022, making her the first female member, and BruceDropEmOff, who joined in late March, is the newest member.
It’s interesting that the company refers to itself as a media house rather than a gaming company. They even describe themselves in this manner on their website.
The members frequently host and participate in live events that feature some of the most well-known Twitch streamers in the spirit of connecting partners. Among the regulars on the various shows the network hosts are xQc, Ludwig, and Myth.
Some hosts, like Mizkif’s Schooled!, have their own programs, a program where contestants are put to the test regarding what they learned in school. Additionally, they host occasional events like the Valheim Tournament and Pokemon Card Break, among others. The annual Friendsgiving event brings the entire cast together to celebrate American holidays like Thanksgiving.
OTK announced the creation of a full-time, professional World of Warcraft team, which consisted of Cdew, Trill, Samiyam, and Mes. In 2021, they took part in the inaugural WoW Shadowlands Arena Championship, finishing third in the North American bracket.
They reached the championship game of Season 1 Cup 2, but they lost. In the following Cup, OTK’s team was only able to advance to the semifinals. The team managed to reach the quarterfinals of the final Cup, but ultimately qualified for the Regional Circuit Championships and, after a grueling battle against teams from other esports leagues, finished third after falling to Cloud9.
The organization decided to stop renewing their contracts, Cdew tweeted on June 11, 2021, formally announcing the dissolution of the OTK WoW team. The closest Asmongold came to operating as an esports organization was their PvP ASMONGOLD INVITATIONAL.
A sizable fanbase of OTK enjoys watching their favorite streamers team up for amusing streams and various events. Along with other industry titans like OTV and 100 Thieves, the group has also been nominated for this year’s Esports Awards in the category of Content Group of the Year, firmly establishing their position among the elite members of the streaming community.
