Fluke, Frankie Ward, Geomancy, Roehampton Uni, and others are among the winners of the Women in Games 2021 UK esports award. The 2021 Women in Games Awards were held last night, and a slew of great esports talent from across the world were honored.
Frankie Ward, an esports host, earned the Most Influential Esports Host award, while Emi ‘Fluke’ Donaldson, a Rainbow Six player, was named Most Influential Esports Shoutcaster or Analyst.
The University or College Games or Esports Diversity Initiative award went to the University of Roehampton, which introduced a women in esports scholarship last year.
Geomancy, a former Resolve team manager and NUEL League of Legends product manager, was also honored in the university/college student portfolio category:
Dhayana Sena, the founder of Women of Xbox, was named the Most Influential Esports Campaigner or Entrepreneur.
BrownGirlGamerCode and Code Coven were nominated Most Influential Gaming Community Group or Network, with the latter’s community manager Lauren Moses (located in the UK) being selected Most Influential Gaming Community Manager.
The award for Most Influential Esports Writer or Journalist went to Melek Balgun.
Starsmitten of Dignitas won the Most Influential Esports Twitch Streamer award, and player Emmalee ‘EMUHLEET’ Garrido won the Most Valuable Esports Player award, giving Dignitas a hat-trick of medals. For the Verizon VCT Game Changers event, Dig also won the Favourite All-Women or Co-Ed Esports League or Tournament award (presented by Dignitas).
GGWP Foundation and BNR presented ‘Wesports: Women in Esports’ with the Most Inclusive Esports Initiative – Project or Structure award.
Following James Banks’ contentious triumph at the 2018 Women in Games Esports Awards, no men were recognized this time.
