Sykkuno‘s YouTube viewership numbers surpassed those on Twitch in his first month, proving that the move didn’t have the negative impact that some feared, and in some cases, was even better.
On May 2nd, the internet came to a halt when Sykkuno announced a surprise move to YouTube, following in the footsteps of other streamers such as DrLupo, TimTheTatman, and Ludwig in seeking greener pastures.
It’s been a month since then, and he’s settled into his new platform home. Some expected the switch to have an immediate impact on his viewership, but that it would eventually recover.
However, according to a report from the ever-reliable Streams Charts, the transition had no effect on his viewership during the first month. In some ways, it was even better than Twitch in some ways.
The report kicked off with a bang, revealing that his first YouTube stream, which took place on May 3, had 41,000 concurrent viewers, which was 33 percent more than his final Twitch stream.
The following week, it climbed again, but eventually leveled out at numbers similar to those on Twitch.
However, by the end of the month, his average viewership had increased by 1%, which is an impressive achievement.
The most important takeaway from the Stream Charts report is that, rather than his move being a case of ‘it gets worse before it gets better,’ Sykkuno’s viewership numbers improved right away.
Given that he allegedly received a large sum of money to make the switch, it appears to have been a net positive for the popular streamer in more ways than one. He does, however, miss some of the things he had on Twitch.
