The upcoming JRPG Xenoblade Chronicles 3 from Monolith Soft will ship with both English and Japanese voice tracks.
The Switch’s upcoming release of several exclusive games is eagerly anticipated by Nintendo fans. One of these is the upcoming JRPG Xenoblade Chronicles 3, developed by Monolith Soft and set to be the third mainline installment in the series. Even though the first trailer hinted at how the third game would wrap up the trilogy, it came as a surprise when Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was released in July rather than September as originally planned. Nintendo has been giving fans extensive hints about what to expect from this upcoming JRPG as the game is now only a few weeks away.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 received its own Nintendo Direct toward the end of June, which concentrated on the game’s exploration, combat, story, DLC, and other aspects. The six main party members—Noah, Eunie, Mio, Lanz, Taion, and Sena—and their roles in the ongoing conflict between the Keves and Agnus were all given a chance to shine for the audience.
The Ouroboros fusion mechanics and the ability of the class system to alter the nature of battle were also demonstrated in the direct. Players will be able to play in either language at launch, despite the fact that separate trailers and video showcases have been in Japanese and English.
This was confirmed in a tweet from the Nintendo UK account that featured a brief Xenoblade Chronicles 3 cutscene showing the party looking for water in a desert. As the video plays, it alternates between the English and Japanese voice tracks while showcasing each party member’s single speech in each language.
According to the account, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will have both Japanese and English dub tracks at launch, in contrast to most games that support additional languages. It emphasizes that there are no additional downloads necessary and that switching it on and off only requires a click in the options menu.
It has also been confirmed that, depending on the language that players have chosen, the cutscenes will have matching lip syncs for fans who are concerned that the tracks might not.
The fact that both languages are available right away and allow players to play in their preferred language has been praised by fans. Many fans noted that part of the appeal of these games is the variety of accents of all the party members. Some fans enjoyed the British English accents in the English Dub. Others who weren’t the biggest fans of the accents expressed their gratitude for the inclusion of Japanese as a launch language option.
