Amid the current DMCA crisis on streaming platform Twitch, popular Twitch streamer xQc asked music artist Kanye West for permission if he can play Kanye’s new album Donda. Even though he received no response from the music artist, he streamed it anyway.

DMCA has wreaked havoc last year across Twitch streamers. Many streamers transitioned from listening to any music they were pleased to hear, to listen to the non-copyrighted LoFi beats. Several DMCA-related bans have been circulating that’s why streamers decided to remove all their old clips and VODs to prevent and avoid any strikes or bans.

One of the most popular streamers on Twitch, Felix Lengyel AKA xQc is known for not following rules and recently he has gone out of his way to ask Kanye West for permission to watch the live event of Donda on his stream. xQc tweeted last August 5th asking Kanye if he can watch and react to Donda’s event live and said that he truly deeply loves the music and that he wants to share Kanye’s “art” with his community on Twitch.

Unfortunately, Kanye West didn’t respond to xQc’s request but he still decided to stream the said event and potentially risk another Twitch ban but later delete the VOD of the said event.

xQc isn’t the first streamer ro ask a music artist for permission to stream their music. Last year in June, another top streamer Trainwrecks asked his favorite rapper 21 savage for permission if he can listen to his music in his stream and the rapper responded to him by saying “Fasho champ” and since then, he has listened to 21 savage music every stream.

It is still unknown if xQc will receive such a ban knowing that he didn’t receive any response from Kanye but many hope that he will receive a strike. As of now, xQc’s channel is still up and running and it seems that he won’t be getting a strike.
