Popular VTube CodeMiko demonstrated the technology behind her streams in one of her recent streams, focusing on a new feature that allows her to take Instagram photos.

CodeMiko was using two different cameras in a clip from this broadcast to show the content that appears on stream and what is happening in the real world. Viewers can see the creator’s suit and motion capture devices, which track movements and facial expressions in real-time and transfer them to the avatar.

CodeMiko raises her arm in the clip, and her glove projects the image to the screen as if she were using the front camera on a smartphone. The streamer moves around her studio while wearing the virtual camera on her glove, and her audience can see the avatar’s bedroom, which is decorated in her colorful, modern style.

CodeMiko also revealed that she wants to produce TikTok content, take “Instagram photos,” and create an album collection to give her fans more content to watch outside of her streaming platform. Despite the impressive technology on display, there were a few glitches or funny moments where CodeMiko’s avatar didn’t respond as it should.

CodeMiko explained that her first version consisted of an Unreal Engine avatar she created herself. However, once she began to experience success, she decided to hire professionals such as an engineer, animator, and publicist to help her refine her production.

CodeMiko is currently one of Twitch’s most popular VTubers. Her YouTube channel has over 893,000 subscribers, and she broadcasts almost every day.
