While playing the Overwatch 2 beta, popular Twitch streamer xQc breaks his previous viewership record by reaching over 300,000 concurrent viewers.

Overwatch 2 is being developed by Activision Blizzard, and a beta for the game was recently launched. xQc’s popularity on Twitch has grown even more as a result of the excitement surrounding the upcoming sequel. Following his alpha experience with Overwatch 2, xQc surpassed his previous Twitch viewership record set in April 2022 with the game’s PvP closed beta.

xQc has recently taken his livestreams to new heights by playing popular games, sticking to some of his favorite titles, and interacting with his community in Let’s Chat. xQc accidentally leaked the Overwatch 2 launcher during the alpha, but the beta is open to livestreaming, so the Overwatch veteran showed his community the game he had already dabbled in. xQc’s return to the Overwatch series with the Overwatch 2 beta resulted in him not only surpassing but smashing his previous record.

The Overwatch 2 PvP beta began on April 26th and will run until May 17th, but interest peaked on the second day of the beta. On April 27th, while streaming the Overwatch 2 beta to his Twitch audience, xQc broke his previous record of 278,176 to set a new personal best of 312,158. The popular Twitch streamer now has around 525 million total views, 609 million hours watched, and 34,929 average viewers from an audience of 10.6 million followers, according to the growing statistics.

Twitch’s xQc was known for playing Overwatch before becoming famous for livestreaming, so it’s no surprise that he’s participating in the beta after the alpha. According to Twitch statistics, xQc is the most popular livestreamer on the platform, having been the most popular in 2021 and 2019, and frequently trading the top spot with another creator in other years. Other streamers, such as Asmongold, Pokimane, and Myth, have also talked about their experiences with the Overwatch 2 PvP beta.

Members of xQc’s community have been watching the Overwatch pro play the PvP beta since it began, but he’s also giving advice on stream to other players, such as recommending the best tank to play or discussing Bastion’s issues. With the beta’s release, Overwatch saw a surge in interest, which could have created a perfect storm when combined with xQc and his large Twitch audience who are familiar with his exploits in the original Overwatch. xQc played the first Overwatch professionally, but given his Twitch success, it’s unclear if he’ll play the sequel as competitively.

Overwatch 2 is currently being worked on.
