Twitch streamer Tyler ‘Trainwrecks‘ Niknam recently shocked the Fortnite esports community by offering $16,000 to DiegoPlayz, a Fortnite competitor who made headlines after a fight at DreamHack Dallas
Many Fortnite esports fans may not have heard of DiegoPlayz before DreamHack Dallas, but the Moon Unit pro made headlines after getting into a physical altercation with an opponent during the event.
Diego and others at the event claim that he was intentionally targeted by an opponent and lost $8,000 as a result. This sparked a brawl, which was quickly broken up by other players and spectators.
Now, in an unexpected turn of events, Twitch’s Trainwrecks has entered the fray, and probably not in the way most people expected.
The Twitch streamer, who is known for his massive donations and benevolence, praised Diego for his apology and offered to compensate him for the earnings he lost as a result of his opponent’s griefing in a series of tweets on June 5.
Train’s offer elicited a wide range of reactions, but many people were ecstatic. Benjyfishy, a well-known Fortnite pro, replied that Train was different while PSG player Muz simply replied with a “W.”
It’s the latest in a long line of thoughtful gestures on Train’s behalf. In April, the Twitch favorite gave $120,000 to streamer Jake’n’Bake to help him purchase his dream car.
While some were disappointed, claiming Train was supporting someone who engaged in physical violence, others were relieved to see Diego receive the money he had been denied.
