A Grammy Award-winning artist,T-Pain recently made a name for himself as a video game streamer in recent years and his most recent inspiration appears to be Forza Horizon 5, in which he did an excellent impression of late comedian Chris Farley.
Forza Horizon 5 by Playground Games, which was released just over a month ago, has received mostly positive reviews, with many fans claiming it to be the best in the series so far. However, the racing game has had major issues with online multiplayer and co-op, which the developers are actively working to resolve.
The video of T- Pain’s Twitch stream and posted to the r/ForzaHorizon subreddit, shows him in the middle of Forza Horizon 5’s Resorvorio Sprint race. T-Pain is driving a van, the Ford Supervan 3, despite the fact that the Forza series is known for its supercar brands. With seconds to go, T-Pain starts laughing at his van beating out supercars, quoting Chris Farley’s famous SNL character Matt Foley’s line “Livin’ in a van down by the river!” The finish line he crosses repeats the line between laughs.
The famous line applies perfectly to his situation, and anyone who is old enough to remember it will at the very least smile. When it comes to streaming, T-Pain is known for his bubbly and boisterous personality, though he isn’t afraid to get serious when the situation calls for it. T-Pain was accused of wiping an entire team of racist Call of Duty players after being harassed via voice chat earlier this year, and the story went viral. T-Pain drops the hammer and kills the entire team by himself after hearing hateful and racist speech in a lobby.
T-Pain appears to be a fan of Chris Farley’s celebrity, and he isn’t the only one. A Chris Farley Easter Egg, or rather one of his character Matt Foley, can be found in Ubisoft’s popular game The Division.
When approaching an NPC named Victor Wright, players will notice that his details state that he “lives in a van down by the river.” The amusing Easter Egg, as well as T-enthusiastic Pain’s impression, demonstrate the late comedian’s enduring impact.
While T-Pain is an A-list celebrity who will never live in a van by the river, his actions give the impression that he is a man of the people. The musician creates royalty-free beats for streamers, something even Matt Foley would be proud of.
On PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, Forza Horizon 5 is now available.
