Valkyrae

According to her Twitch bot, ‘Valkyrae is a play on her first name and the word Valkyrie. Rae is short for Rachel. Valkyrie + Rae = VALKYRAE.’

Valkyrae has been playing PC games since childhood and introduced her sister to them as she got older. She first got into video games with Super Mario Bros. on her Nintendo 64 when she was very small. She grew up in a tumultuous household and found gaming to be a useful way to deal with that.

During high school, she was into outdoor activities such as snowboarding and tennis. She also grew up playing the piano.

After high school, she went on to attend a community college, and paid her way through it with a job at GameStop. However, work and school took up most of the time, so she didn’t have much time to see people during normal hours. She therefore turned to streaming as a way to socialize and spend time with other people.

She set up her Twitch account in January 2015 after hearing about it from her Instagram followers on her gaming page and started began with Dark Souls. In September 2015, she decided to risk quitting her job there to pursue fulltime content creation. A lot of this growth game from her 15,000 followers from her gaming Instagram account, as it enabled her o start streaming with eager viewers and to reach out to other content creations for collaborations. This move paid off, as she was able to offer her family financial support when her father became terminally ill with a highly invasive cancer in 2017. She has also been taking care of her mom since she lost her job in 2018 and has since bought her mom a house in the Philippines.

As with many other streamers, what really saw her channel follower base skyrocket was her transition to Fortnite content shortly after it release. My February 2018, she found herself streaming with other new big names such as Myth. These collaborations, as well as her bubbly personality, further helped her growth.

Valkyrae joined 100 Thieves in November 2018. In January 2020, she signed an exclusive contract with YouTube and has been streaming on that platform ever since

She became a co-owner of 100 Thieves in April 2021. She is close with the ofline.tv crew and often creates collaborative content with LilyPichu, Pokimane and Sykkuno, as well as many other streamers. She even moved In with Pokimane and a few other streamers in July 2021.

She has a younger sister. She also has a Shiba Inu called ‘Mika.’
