Battle royale games like Apex Legends and Fortnite, according to Michael ‘Shroud‘ Grzesiek, don’t need a ranked mode to thrive, and if he had to choose between ranked and unranked, he’d go with the latter.
Battle royale games are nothing new to Shroud. Over the years, he’s played everything from Apex Legends to Fortnite and Warzone, and he’s grown tired of the genre, though he still dabbles in it now and then.
While streamers like Dr Disrespect love ranked battle royale modes and believe they’re a feature Warzone 2 desperately needs, shroud believes the opposite is true: they don’t need one at all.
While playing Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt, a new free-to-play battle royale game that launched on April 27th, the topic came up.
Shroud quickly responded, expressing his hope that the opposite would occur.
Shroud isn’t afraid to go against the crowd. For example, he recently claimed that Fortnite Zero Build Mode is no better than the standard mode, despite what many others believe. He’s done it yet again.
However, people expect different things from battle royales. Some people prefer a no-frills experience, while others want to satisfy their competitive urges. Valorant, Shroud believes, is a better fit for the latter.
