Tyler “Ninja” Blevins confirmed some disappointing Super Smash Bros. news during a recent poker tournament that included a number of well-known YouTubers, Twitch streamers, and influencers, as well as a number of well-known professional players. Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate support has ended, and no word on the next game in the series has been released yet, though it may already be in development. As a result, Super Smash Bros. fans are becoming increasingly desperate for new content. Unfortunately, the most recent information on the game is only negative.

Ninja revealed during the aforementioned tournament that he and his team were vying for a $500,000 Super Smash Bros. tournament at Evo.

Despite his best efforts, Nintendo simply did not reciprocate his enthusiasm. Nintendo, according to the Twitch streamer, “ghosted” him every time he attempted to do so. Fans have long suspected this, but this is the first time Ninja has confirmed it.

Ninja doesn’t say why Nintendo ghosted him, but it sounds like he has no idea who he is. Nintendo has remained silent on the matter, as one might expect.

It’s unclear if this was a Super Smash Bros. tournament. Super Smash Bros. or Ultimate Melee. That would be the only explanation if it was for the latter. It didn’t matter if it was Super Smash Bros. It’s understandable that Nintendo would refuse to cooperate with Ultimate. Nintendo’s relationship with Evo is complicated, and now that Sony owns it, it appears to be even less interested. Nintendo, of course, has a notorious reputation for failing to support and nurture competitive gaming in its games.
