Twitch and its most popular political streamer have donated over $2,000 to a Rio Grande Valley reproductive health nonprofit, with plans to raise even more on stream.

Hasan Piker announced on Monday, May 2nd, that he had donated $2,581 to Frontera Fund, a non-profit that helps women in the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas gain access to reproductive health services, including abortions. He made the donation just hours after Justice Samuel Alito’s draft opinion stated that the Supreme Court intends to overturn Roe v. Wade.

When Piker went live on Twitch on Tuesday, May 3, he said he plans to do a fundraising stream soon that will benefit both Frontera Fund and the Texas Equal Access Fund, with more organizations possibly added to the list.

Piker’s community is known for raising funds for a variety of causes, including a recent $226,277.64 fundraiser for Ukraine aid. He matched the first $25,000 and added an extra $10 every time his character died in Elden Ring, a notoriously difficult video game.

If Roe is overturned, Alexis Bay, board director of Frontera Fund, believes that donating to all local abortion funds and reproductive rights nonprofits in Texas is critical.

She refers people to the National Network of Abortion Funds, which can help them find an abortion fund near them.
