Twitch streamer Kelly ‘kjanecaron’ Caron, nearly burned down her kitchen during a cooking stream that went wrong as part of a subathon for viewers.

Following Ludwig‘s meteoric rise to fame with his world-record-breaking subathon, Twitch streamers have begun to host subathons with bigger and wilder venues.

This push for content nearly ended in disaster for one streamer. Kelly was cooking for her viewers with an overheated pan and smoking the room up during a recent “uncapped subathon.”

After the pan caught fire, kjanecaron forgot oil safety 101 and ran the pan to her sink. Kelly swung the pan around, spreading oily flame across her stovetop, after splashing water onto the fiery pan, causing a larger flame to arise due to the combination of water and oil.

Unsure of what to do, the streamer started crying before asking for help from her viewers.

She yelled ‘help’ to strangers watching her on the internet, then said she didn’t know what to do and asked for assistance. Around the firey incident, Reddit responses were a mix of sympathetic and belittling.

Kelly left her live stream to ‘get bandages’ for her injured hand after urging her viewers to share the video of her starting a small fire.

kjanecaron ended her stream by saying that if she’s going to f**k herself up, at least let her exploit it, in response to criticism that pushing for the video to go viral is an irresponsible action.
