itmeJP is an OG podcaster who got his start during his college days when he and a friend began producing the ‘Arena Cast’ in 2009 while he was still studying Journalism in college. However, what really got him his following was when they moved on to creating their StarCraft II ‘State of the Game’ during the game’s beta in April 2010. From there he moved on to producing regular gaming content on Twitch, as well as his various RPG tabletop series where he acts as DM and other podcasts. He even cast for MLG back in 2018. Therefore, we have provided a brief overview below of the gear that features in itmeJP’s gaming setup in order to produce the high-quality content that you are accustomed to viewing.
WHAT MONITOR DOES ITMEJP USE?
ItmeJP uses an ASUS ROG Strix XG279Q monitor. itmeJP’s uses an ASUS ROG Strix XG279Q as his primary gaming monitor. It has a 27-inch display and offers a WQHD resolution of 2560 x 1440p. It has refresh rate options of 170Hz, 120Hz and 60Hz which can all run at a 1ms (grey-to-grey) response time. It is also integrated with a number of useful technologies such as its Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync (ELMBS), Nvidia G-Sync compatibility and Flicker-Free technology to prevent screen tearing, stuttering and blurring. There are other technologies as well.
Its stand provides a great deal of adjustability, as it can be height adjust between 0-12cm (4.72″) for dimensions of 61.1 x (42.2-54.2) x 27cm (24.06 x (16.6-21.33) x 10.63″), tilted between -5°~20°, swiveled between -40°~40° and pivot 90° clockwise. This is in addition to its allowing for the monitor to be detached for VESA (100 x 100mm) compatible wall mounting.
WHAT MOUSE DOES ITMEJP USE?
ItmeJP uses a Logitech G Pro wireless gaming mouse. The Logitech G Pro Wireless mouse is among the most popular mice used by streamers, with some examples including Diegosaurs, Danucd and LVNDMARK. Therefore, it’s no wonder that it can be found in itmeJP’s gaming setup as well. Newer models feature a Hero 25K optical sensor that offers a DPI range from 100 – 25,600. The mouse can store up to 6 DPI profiles, which can be set in steps of 50 DPI. It also offers adjustable polling rates of 125Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz and 1,000Hz, and has a maximum acceleration of 40G at a tracking speed of up to 400 IPS.
It has a truly ambidextrous design, in that in that in addition to its neutral shape, it also has the option of adding to buttons to both or either side of the mouse, thus allowing for a total of up to 8 programmable buttons that can be set with up to 6 macro profiles. Additionally, its LIGHTSYNC technology allows the RGB lighting to be synchronized with other Logitech G products through its HUB software. It is compatible with Windows 7 or later, macOS 10.11 or later, or Chrome OS.
WHAT CONTROLLER DOES ITMEJP USE?
ItmeJP uses an Xbox One Elite Series 2 Controller. The Xbox Elite Series 2 is a wireless controller whose in-built battery can last up to 40 hours. It can still be used while it is plugged in to charge with its USB-C cable. Players can store up to three profiles directly onto the device and toggle between them with the dedicated Profile button. It also features adjustable tension thumbsticks and a wrap-around rubberized grip. Furthermore, its packaging includes a charging dock and carry case, as well as a set of 6 thumbsticks. These comprise of 2 x Standard, 2 x Classic, 1 x Tall and 1 x Wide Dome thumbsticks. In addition, there is also a set of four paddles, of which 2 are Medium and 2 are Mini-sized, as well as a set of 2 D-pads, one of which is Standard and the other Faceted. There is also a thumbstick adjustment tool. It is compatible with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X, as well as Windows 10 devices.
WHAT HEADSET DOES ITMEJP USE?
ItmeJP uses Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro headphones. The Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro are open-backed, wired stereo headphones that were intended for studio production and broadcast purposes. They have a sturdy construction comprising of titanium-coated acoustic fabric and carefully selected precision-woven textiles with aluminum end pieces and cups. These are paired with soft, velour earpads which are comfortable even for glasses-wearers. Although the earcups to not rotate and the headband is not adjustable, there is an added bonus that almost every part is replaceable. They weigh 370g (9.52oz), measure 17.8 x 10.16 x 21.6cm (7 x 4 x 8.5″) and are compatible with PC, Mac, laptop and mobile devices.
WHAT MICROPHONE DOES ITMEJP USE?
ItmeJP uses a Shure SM7B microphone. itmeJP’s gaming setup includes the Shure SM7B, which is another incredibly common piece of equipment among top streamers. It has a sturdy build comprising of enamel aluminum and a steel case to protect its cartridge. It operates with a unidirectional polar pattern and inputs at an end-address. This means that it has a noise-cancelling effect, as it will primarily pick up audio inputs from the front of the microphone, while barely registering side and background sounds. Additionally, it also has a presence boost button to switch between it and a flat-response curve, as well as a high press filter switch. Its inbuilt pop-filter also helps to reduce interference from unwanted plosive mouth sounds while its detachable windscreen helps to reduce bump and mechanical interference.
Its flat, wide-range frequency response is designed to effectively capture vocals and bass instruments. There are two switches at its base, one being a presence boost button that can turn off the presence boost to produce a flat-response curve, and a high press filter. Although it does not require phantom power, it does connect with an XLR plug, so you will need an audio interface device to mediate between it and your recording device.
WHAT WEBCAM DOES ITMEJP USE?
ItmeJP uses a Sony a7 III camera. The Sony a7 III is a mirrorless digital camera with a 24.2MP Exmor R CMOS sensor. It is a professional-grade camera that can record videos at up to 4K for a QFHD resolution of 3840 x 2160p. It provides an ISO range of 100 – 51,200 that can be extended to 50 – 204,800 with a Sony E-mount compatible lens. It is also enabled with 693 phase-detection autofocus to ensure that subjects come out clearly, even during video recordings. It also allows for brightness adjustments of between -2 to 2, which can be set on its 3.0″ 922k-dot tiltable LDC touchscreen.
It is designed to be durable and relatively compact for on-the-go photography, which is why it also comes with a shoulder strap and weighs 295g (10.5oz). It also offers an array of picture effect options and creative styles. However, while all of these features are impressive, it is probably unnecessary to start out with a digital camera if you are planning on being a gaming streamer. For instance, even CallMeCarlsonLive with a follower base of over 1.2 million gets by with a basic plug-and-play Logitech C922 webcam.
WHAT MIXER DOES ITMEJP USE?
ItmeJP uses a Mackie B Box 12-channel mixer. itmeJP’s gaming setup features the 12-channel version of the Mackie B Box effects mixer. This version offers 6 microphone preamp inputs, 12-line inputs and 2 auxiliary sends. There are 8 channels, each of which has a gain knob that adjusts from between -20dB to +30dB, 3 blue knobs for EQs of 80Hz, 2,000Hz and 12,000Hz, a green auxiliary reference knob, an orange effects knob, a grey pan & tilt knob and a mute button. The pan & tilt knob is useful, in that it helps with audio placements for instruments and mics for a more realistic audio output experience. At the bottom are fader sliders for 4 mono channels and 8 stereo channels. These allow for adjustments of between 10 – 110dB. There are also 7 Stereo Graphic EQ sliders below the 8 sends inputs. These features make it useful for multi-person podcasts and band recordings. It is also available in 4, 8, 16, 22 and 30-channel formats. Obviously, if you are planning on a solo or duo stream, it would probably be worthwhile to invest in a smaller mixer.
WHAT CHAIR DOES ITMEJP USE?
ItmeJP uses a Steelcase Gesture Chair. The Steelcase Gesture is a highly adjustable office chair that is available is a wide variety of colors and styles, and two fabric options. itmeJP has opted for the graphite version whose textile is made from 100% polyester. It is integrated with Gesture’s 3D LiveBack technology that automatically adjusts according to your spine’s natural contours and spinal movements. This is in addition to its 360° arm adjustment, 40.6-53.3cm (16-21″) seat height adjustment and 56.9-88cm (22.4-34.63″) seat width adjustment capabilities. Furthermore, it can handle up to Up to 181.4Kg (400lbs) in weight and is suitable for someone of medium height. Its overall dimensions are 60 x 40 x 112.4cm (23.63 x 34.63 x 44.25″.)
