After an incident in which she accused NoPixel staff of “metagaming,” popular Twitch streamer Elle Grenn was permanently banned from the NoPixel GTA RP server.
Grenn’s character, Sofia Castellano, was well-known, but also notorious in the server, and had previously been banned. When a player in GTA RP uses out-of-character information in-game while in character, this is known as metagaming. Outside information informing a character’s decisions or statements is prohibited in order to prevent the roleplay from being disrupted or spoiled totally.
Players that are proven to be metagaming are frequently banned, and repeated incidents might result in a permaban. Grenn’s character Sofia, on the other hand, appears to have been banned for accusing others of metagaming, notably NoPixel staff.
Grenn’s character had an unpleasant encounter with ‘Locksley,’ a character played by a member of the NoPixel staff, on November 3. During the clip, there is a dispute, and Sofia states, “I’m going to do my very best to roleplay this out.” Later, Elle claims, “Locksley basically ‘metagamed’ the entire incident.”
Elle Grenn confirmed she has been perma banned after the stream as she wrote in a now deleted tweet; “Yesterday, some of the RP that took place was solely based on meta information that shouldn’t have been out. I was really upset about this as it cut a lot of the RP with the PD completely out, so we tried to RP fix it. Today I got perma’d for it? Nice.”
She then continued in a follow up tweet stating; “I guess when meta gaming happens blatantly to help one side and f**k the other, I am not supposed to say anything about it.”
Elle Grenn’s Twitch account has around 30,000 followers, and her content is almost entirely GTA RP; however, until the ban is lifted, she may have to stop streaming as well.
