Well-known streamer and YouTuber Guy Beahm AKA Dr Disrespect recently shared his thoughts about why the prevalence of shields in Apex Legends affects the game itself negatively. He has had a rocky relationship with Respawn Entertainment and he is known for criticizing the game and often made headlines.

Dr Disrespect was a former Call of Duty developer and now turned streamer. He first rose to fame playing BR like H1Z1 aided by his eccentric persona which sees him wearing a mustache, sun glasses, black mullet, and a red tactical vest. He first made a name for himself on Twitch but he was permanently banned last year of June with no concrete reason. As a result, he now streams on YouTube and he is now prohibited from appearing on Twitch streamers and partners channel/streams.

He recently shared a clip on his Twitter, venting his frustration after he and his squad was eliminated during his Apex Legends streams. He exited the match and let loose, stating that that was the reason why he didn’t like the game and hated it and added that it is boring. He elaborated saying that it was due to the prevalence of shields in the BR and went on to suggest that the huge time to kill for players due to shields was the reason why Apex Legends is not successful in esports.

Dr Disrespect also previously took breaks from Apex Legends before and jokingly stated that he would uninstall it and vowed not to return. He eventually found his way back to Apex Legends but his frustrations with its gameplay still remain the same and that he finds himself reading emails on his other monitor during his Apex streams to keep himself from falling asleep due to massive boredom. He also revealed before that his reference in the BR genre lies with Activision’s Call of Duty: Warzone knowing that it features much more fast-paced gameplay and lower time to kill compared to Apex Legends.

Although he still gives Apex Legends another chance and it’s clear the higher kill in Apex does not match his preferred play style. It is also difficult to compare Apex Legends to his preference of the higher-paced Warzone as the two BR games have different mechanics at their core. It’s also uncertain that he will continue to play Apex Legends despite his continued criticisms.

However the BR Apex Legends upcoming release of Season 10 will surely see a shakeup in its gameplay with the inclusion of new Legends.
