After receiving a suspension for watching the anime Death Note, Twitch streamer Disguised Toast has been unbanned from the platform.
Many people were unsure how long the ban would be enforced. While some speculated that it might be a 48-hour suspension, like fellow Twitch streamer Imane “Pokimane” Anys, others speculated that it might be a longer suspension.
Suspicions have finally been dispelled, as the popular streamer has been unbanned and is streaming on his regular schedule once more.
Twitch’s policy prohibits streaming without the permission of the copyright holder, and popular streamers have been banned for streaming copyrighted content due to the “react meta.” In this case, however, Toast claimed that he had his good friend LilyPichu issue a DMCA takedown on purpose in order to “frighten people away from watching anime.”
It remains to be seen whether it works, but another show that has been more forgiving of the “React Meta” is Masterchef.
Hasan Piker and Felix “xQc” Lengyel, both Twitch streamers, are big fans of the cooking show, owing to Gordon Ramsey’s outspoken personality. While there have been some issues with the show’s streaming, such as Piker’s initial DMCA strike, it has been more forgiving.
In some cases, such as xQc’s potential Gordon Ramsey collaboration, it may be possible for streamers to watch a show for free.
