When a fellow content creator and fan urged Twitch streamer xQc to stop streaming sponsored gambling sessions and return to chess instead, he was not amused. xQc has been down this road many times before, including when he decided to make his channel an open endorsement of gambling.
This decision was bound to ruffle some feathers, including those of his father, who publicly lambasted the streamer as one of the most-watched content creators on the Amazon-owned platform. The fan was clearly offended by the fact that xQc’s position quickly shifted from one of apologizing for ever streaming gambling content to one of openly endorsing it.
Naturally, opinions for and against xQc’s decision to stream gambling have flooded the Twitch chat and Reddit forums. Asmongold, Mizkif, and Amouranth, among others, have all weighed in on this moral decision.
On Sunday, a fan decided to try again to persuade xQc to give up his hobby, but instead of going to xQc’s channel, the streamer decided to make his own video. xQc came across this video while browsing Reddit, where he came across a topic titled “Juicer begs xQc to stop gamba and play chess again.” As a result, xQc chose to observe. He didn’t say much about the appeal.
He then resumed his stream, seemingly unaffected by the latest jab at his life decisions. People constantly appealing and urging xQc to do one thing instead of another has worn him down.
Some have argued that he should be a role model, but Asmongold, a flamboyant streamer who was recently banned from Twitch for his Diablo Immortal antics, said that no one should expect streamers to be “role models,” and that he they are simply people who are free to do whatever they want.
xQc admitted to being a true gambling addict who has lost large sums of money. However, the streamer assured his followers that he was one of the fortunate few who could afford to be a gambling addict. You may not want to be a role model, but no matter what you do, this is the wrong message to send.
