Wargaming, the creator of World of Tanks, has announced that it will leave both Russia and Belarus with “all due speed.”
Today (April 4), the Belarusian studio announced on its website that it had “transferred its live games business in Russia and Belarus to local management of Lesta Studio, [which] is no longer affiliated with Wargaming,” effective March 31st.
This decision has been made in the midst of Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24th. Since then, millions of Ukrainians have fled their homeland in search of asylum in Western countries.
The World Of Tanks developer also states that it will comply with all laws when removing its operations from Russia and Belarus, and that it will support its employees throughout the process.
Wargaming has 19 offices and development studios around the world as of this writing, with three in Russia and Belarus.
Sergey Burkatovskiy, the company’s creative director, was fired in early March after making statements in support of the Russian armed forces.
