Co-owner of 100 Thieves and YouTuber Rachell ‘Valkyrae’ Hofstetter revealed that she had a run-in with YouTube over a tweet about the remaining time on her contract.
When a streamer signs a deal with a platform, whether it’s Twitch, YouTube, or Facebook Gaming, they’re usually given a few responsibilities.
These factors can include showing a specific number of advertisements per stream, maintaining a high average count, or simply streaming a certain number of hours per month.
Valkyrae revealed on December 4 that she still had around 198 hours of streaming time left on her YouTube contract before the new year, which was set to end in early 2022. She was at a loss for what to do with the time she had left and turned to her Twitter followers for help.
Shortly after that tweet went out, the co-owner of 100 Thieves revealed that the post had gotten her into some trouble with the platform, and they had to talk about it.
She said she wasn’t supposed to tweet what she tweeted and told Sykkuno about it as they talked about how much time she had left on her contract. They told her that they had already talked and that she didn’t need to delete it because the damage had already been done.
Rae wasn’t having it when Sykkuno suggested that she go all out and reveal more details, claiming that she loves YouTube and isn’t trying to make things worse for herself.
In terms of meeting the contract’s requirements, Sykkuno had a rather amusing suggestion for her, claiming that if she just left her stream on for five hours at a time, she’d easily meet the requirements, but Rae refused.
Many fans would be surprised if Rae left YouTube once her current contract expired, given how she’s been hyping up the company’s recent signings. Who knows what will happen now that so much money is being thrown around on streamer deals.
