One of the most popular female streamers in the world Rachell Hofstetter was better known by her online alias Valkyrae has recently faced backlash after using the word fruity during her recent live broadcast in reference to a man during a game of ‘Dating or Siblings’.
Recently, the game Dating or Siblings have become quite popular among streamers and viewers. In the game, there were certain tasks for the players that they had to look at a series of photos of couples and determine whether they’re romantically involved or just siblings.
Streamers such as Valkyrae and her fellow streamers and friends have jumped in to the game but it did not end well with Valkyrae as she has faced backlash after she called a man fruity because she was under the impression that one couple were siblings so she claims that the male person in the photo might not be interested in the opposite sex.
Valkyrae stated; “This is siblings, right? I think Emma’s right. I think he’s fruity.” Now, during her recent live broadcast, Valkyrae talks about getting cancelled because of what she says. She explained; “I also wanted to say, I saw chat was kind of freaking out about the ‘fruity’ thing. I didn’t even know what fruity meant. I said it because Emma said it, so I thought that it was like, a term to call someone that’s gay, maybe.”
She then further claimed that she didn’t know that it was a bad thing to say. She said that she stopped saying it and that she hopes that the people knew that she had no bad intentions or meant for saying it. Valkyrae ended her explanation by apologizing to whoever gets hurt because of the word she uses.
