As the exclusivity of the war between two streaming platforms heats up again, Valkyrae stepped up to defend YouTube, claiming that it is the only real option for all of the biggest names in streaming, for one big reason.
Ludwig‘s surprise switch from Twitch to YouTube this week has reignited the streaming exclusivity debate, with many experts weighing in on the pros and cons.
Valkyrae, one of YouTube’s most ardent supporters, has come out again in support of the popular video platform, claiming that in the looming choice between two platforms, many streamers will soon face, there’s only one real option — the platform with which she signed a major contract in early 2020.
Also, according to Valykrae, YouTube has one major advantage: it supports top talent and “works with them” to improve the site. Twitch has never capitalized on this sense of importance.
She went on to say that YouTube is the only option because “they care.”
Valkyrae explained that on YouTube, she feels a sense of representation that she never felt on Twitch. YouTube wants to work with her and treat her well.
Valkyrae stated that the main reason that she was happy to switch from Twitch to YouTube last January of last year was because the people behind the scenes made it clear that they valued her input and said that she believes it’s because of this that they’re the only viable option.
Valkyrae claimed that YouTube had forced her to leave Twitch. They always want to treat her well, and they’re constantly checking in to see how she’s doing and what else she might require. Also they work closely together and if she has something that she wants them to do for the channel or website they’re always like, ‘done! ’
She also stated that she considers herself to be valuable on YouTube. They give her a sense of importance. That isn’t really the case on Twitch. You don’t get that feeling because there are so many people on deals.
Valkyrae hasn’t been shy about urging her former Twitch co-stars to switch platforms; just days after the massive Amazon leak revealed earnings for dozens of the platform’s top streamers, she sounded the alarm.
YouTube is actively recruiting more live streamers. The platform’s streaming side has a lot of room to expand. They’re working on it and concentrating their efforts on it.
She stated that she enjoys her time on YouTube. It’s exciting to see how hungry they are. She is not biased, but YouTube does not have advertisements, and we are working on a variety of other projects.
Hofstetter also admitted that the switch isn’t easy. The co-owner of 100 Thieves has previously discussed how difficult it was for her to leave her Twitch fanbase behind, and how she worried she’d “abandoned” them.
Valkyrae admitted that she was worried about it and that she struggled with the decision because she felt like she was betraying a lot of people, including her Twitch community. She had the impression that they simply didn’t want to watch her any longer because she had left them. It meant that she was giving up everything she worked for in the name of stability but in the end, her bold move paid off: she’s now known as the “Queen of YouTube,” and she can’t say enough good things about it.
