Tyler Steinkamp, often known as Tyler1, a well-known Twitch streamer, has voiced his strong sentiments against streams who participate in gambling.
Tyler claimed he wasn’t “anti-gambling,” but in his opinion, people who gamble and lose money are “dumb” enough to deserve such a destiny. Despite a prohibition on gambling, slots, and roulette streams on unregulated platforms enacted by Twitch in 2022, the subject continues to spark a lot of debate among streamers. The streamer actually said the following: “If all these streamers, or whoever are like, ‘Don’t gamble, blah, blah, blah,’ and they go and they gamble and lose it all, they deserve to lose it and it’s a life lesson.”
The topic of gambling content has caused controversy among streamers, especially on streaming services. Twitch sponsored Stake.com (an Australian gambling website) as one of its categories for a considerable amount of time. However, the site only recently decided to restrict gambling-related information. In contrast, Tyler1 admits that he is not personally against gambling. He does, however, think that those who lose money gambling are accountable for their choices. He stated: “I’m not anti-gambling. My philosophy on gambling is – if people are stupid enough and gamble and lose their money, that’s their own problem.”
The negative effects gambling may have on children were one of the key factors in why it was mainly deplatformed on Twitch. Tyler continued: “My whole thing is if a kid is stupid enough to take their mom’s credit card, number one, that’s bad parenting and they should do better, and again, it’s a good life lesson while they’re young. They’ll learn and it will benefit them in the future.”
