Twitch streamer Destiny has been permanently banned for “hateful conduct,” with no opportunity to appeal the decision after a review by moderators.
Destiny, real name Steven Kenneth Bonnell II made the announcement on the official Destiny subreddit on March 23rd, sharing an email from the Amazon-owned streaming platform informing him that his account had been suspended due to a review of his activity and content.
Destiny also shared an automated email from Twitch that he received after requesting a review of his ban, confirming that his account would remain suspended due to his violation of Twitch’s Community Guidelines.
Though the exact content that led to Destiny’s ban has not been revealed, some have speculated that it was comments he made during a stream about transgender issues.
Destiny eventually turned to discuss transgender streamer Keffals while playing Elden Ring, remarking on how she would appear to be “alright” getting sex change surgery due to her affluent parents.
Destiny went on YouTube later to complain that Twitch never tells him why he is banned. As they informed him that a violation had occurred on stream, the three possible reasons they gave were ‘posting a combination of words and emotes in chat to promote denigration based on race,’ ‘praising or supporting a hate crime,’ and finally, ‘advocating for the exclusion of a group of people based on their disability,’ which would blow his mind if it was the third one.
Destiny also denied claims that it was the result of a “hate raid” by his community, as well as claims that he streamed a clip of someone saying the n-word, though he did admit to insulting a Vtuber.
Later, he speculated that his claims that trans women shouldn’t compete in women’s athletics with ciswomen may have also contributed to his exclusion.
Destiny would later indicate in a Twitter thread that he would address his comments about Keffals, as well as further discuss his ban.
In response to a tweet from another Twitter user who denied Destiny’s role in the rise of political Twitch channels.
Destiny previously lost his Twitch partnership in 2020 for allegedly “encouraging violence,” and was temporarily banned in 2021 after a guest shared an alleged photo of Hunter Biden engaged in intercourse with two women allegedly found among the contents of his laptop, in violation of the platform’s sexually explicit imagery guidelines.
Destiny’s YouTube channel currently has approximately 409,000 subscribers and over 262 million views.
Since 2016, his content has primarily focused on political debates, having started out as a standard video game streaming channel.
