Forza Horizon 5 was recently released on PC and Xbox, and many people have already played it but recently, its players are enraged because it appears that its language filter is banning real names for “inappropriate content.”
Forza Horizon 5 has been in early access since November 5th where it was released on PC, Xbox, and Xbox Game Pass on November 9th. Many players gave it positive feedback, and it was even praised for its accessibility. However, the game’s high ratings may have taken a hit after early adopters took to Twitter to express their displeasure with an in-game language filter that flagged their legal names.
Forza Horizon 5 includes the option to customize your car’s license plate, just like its predecessors. Players have taken advantage of the feature to personalize their favorite car by adding their real name or gamer tag.
However, it appears that some racing franchise players have had trouble getting their names displayed on their cars, as the game’s built-in language filter has flagged those with certain names.
One user under the username of Osama Dorias in twitter tweeted saying that his name appears to be inappropriate content. Another user, Nazih Fare said that she wasn’t surprised that her legal name had been blocked saying that the “eternal curse” of not being able to use her legal name will forever haunt her and then responded with a blurred-out copy of his driver’s license, proving that her real name is Fares.
Ubisoft’s employee joined the conversation and stated that they believe it is past time to stop banning common names in user-generated content saying that if it’s being abused, people will report it, and it will be quickly dealt with and continued saying that if you want to be inclusive, you must be inclusive on all fronts.
Playground Games recently announced that ASL and BSL interpreters will be added to cutscenes, allowing deaf and hard of hearing people to understand the emotion behind the existing subtitles.
