This year, new modes, roles, and friend list updates are being added to the extremely popular social deduction game Among Us.
Among Us, the popular indie social deduction multiplayer game has revealed its plans for 2022. Since the game’s initial release in 2020, Innersloth has continued to update Among Us, and the developers hope to keep the game’s player base growing with more new content.
Developer Innersloth has set a timeline for the release of new features this year: friend list updates and quality of life changes are on the way, while more roles, cosmicubes, a hide-and-seek mode, and a new collaboration are on the way.
Innersloth also hinted at additional features that will be revealed at a later time. Because no new map has been announced, The Airship, which is based on Innersloth’s other title Henry Stickmin, remains the most recent map.
When famous Twitch streamers like Pokimane started playing Among Us for their viewers to watch, the game reached its peak popularity in the second half of 2020. The way the game is played sets it apart from other games in that it is based on the personalities of the players and their trust in one another. Because it’s free to play on mobile, it’s been able to reach a large audience.
After scrapping plans for a sequel in late 2020, Innersloth has been hard at work developing new content for Among Us. Some of the content from Among Us 2 has been incorporated into the current Among Us, and Innersloth has prioritized reinforcing its current infrastructure, such as servers, in the base game. Innersloth has also added to its team in order to keep up with rising player demand.
Innersloth is a small team that has accomplished a lot considering its size. Among Us took home the Best Mobile Game award at The Game Awards 2020, and it has even received praise outside of the gaming community.
Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar famously teamed up with a number of content creators, including Disguised Toast and HasanAbi, to play a game of Among Us on Twitch, attracting hundreds of thousands of viewers.
While Among Us isn’t as popular as it once was, it’s still a game that gets a lot of attention on streaming sites, and new content is always welcome for a game that has accomplished so much in just a few years.
