summit1g is a variety streamer from Orange County, CO who has been a dedicated video gamer since childhood. Although he had been streaming Counter-Strike for fun for a while, his popularity only really started to grow once he started creating content for The War Z, with his big break coming when he was signed with Owned in 2012.

He is mainly known for his sniping skills, trolling and personality. Unfortunately, his language isn’t clean, so this channel isn’t appropriate for kids.

Although he does variety streams, summit1g still often plays fps titles, which makes high responsiveness and sensitivities important to him when choosing equipment for his gaming setup.

WHAT MONITOR DOES summit1g USE?

summit1g uses an ASUS VG248QE 24-inch monitor

summit1g uses an ASUS VG248QE 24-inch monitor. This monitor offers a 1920×1080 display with a 144Hz refresh rate. It also has height adjustment options for between 16 to 20¼ inches, as well as 90° rotation capabilities, making it useful both for gaming and as a secondary monitor to manage social media and streaming software on.

With these resolution and refresh rates, fps games will be clear and realistic, enabling players to accurately assess what’s going on in the game, without worrying about lagging throwing off their aim and movements. Of course, this is only effective if their graphics card is powerful enough to process at that rate. It is therefore best to see what the basic requirements are before purchasing any piece of hardware.

What’s interesting about this addition to summit1g’s gaming setup is that it doesn’t have the highest refresh rates out there. Yet he is still known for his incredible sniping and shooting skills in fps games, so it could be that while higher refresh rates do help, they’re not always necessary.

Streamers or gamers who prefer slower-paced games such as auto-battlers or board or card games, also may not need such high specs. This monitor is used by a number of other top streamers, including Itssky, aimbotcalvin and Dakotaz.

WHAT HEADSET DOES summit1g USE?

summit1g uses Audio Technica ATH-AD900X headphones

summit1g uses Audio Technica ATH-AD900X headphones. The Audio Technica ATH-AD900Xs are lightweight open-back dynamic headphones built on aluminum casing. They come with a regular 3.5 mm gold-plated plug and detachable 6.5 mm connector on a non-detachable wire that are an upgrade of the ATH-AD900 model. The main change is a slighter wider bass-range as well as a high frequency response range of between 5 – 35,000Hz and an impedance of 38 ohms.

They are designed with a self-adjusting headband that some people like and others don’t, as it only really works for people who have the right head-shape. The pads are also thicker and softer than the ATH-900s.

The open-back serves two purposes, firstly, it releases some of the sound pressure from within the ear-cups, so that it’s not all directed onto your eardrums, and secondly, they provide a soundstage audio experience. This also means that some of the sound will be audible to anyone who is close by and that some external sounds may also trickle in, so they’re really intended for indoor personal use which is fine for summit1g’s gaming setup.

WHAT MICROPHONE DOES summit1g USE?

WHAT MICROPHONE DOES summit1g USE?

summit1g uses an Audio-Technica AT2035 microphone. The AT2035 is an XLR cardioid condenser unidirectional microphone. It has a large diaphragm and is capable of handling high pressure sound waves as well as a full metal body to increase its durability. It requires phantom power to work, so you will need to purchase an interface device such as a mixer or a pre-amp. This is in addition to the XLR cable and boom arm/ mic-stand that you will also need to buy. Although it comes with an inbuilt 80Hz high-pass filter, you might want to consider buying a pop-filter as well.

It has a frequency response of between 10 – 20,000 Hz with a signal to noise ratio of 82dB:1kHz at 1Pa and features a built-in -10 decibel pad and bass roll-off switch, which will both help when recording louder sounds such as instruments as well as eliminating background noise.

WHAT WEBCAM DOES summit1g USE?

WHAT WEBCAM DOES summit1g USE?

summit1g uses a Logitech C922 webcam. The Logitech C922 is a basic clip-on plug-and-play webcam that is capable of recording at 1080p at 30fps or at 720p at 60fps and is one of the webcams that are frequently used by streamers, including KingRichard, Myth and TSM_Vinny1x. While it does come with a background replacement feature, some uses have reported it to be glitchy, so it might be best to either stick with your original background or to get a green screen.

The Logitech C922X is essentially the same camera but comes with a 6-month free trial of XSplit instead of the 3-month trial and doesn’t include a tripod like the C922 does. Seeing as summit1g uses OBS Studio to run his stream, it makes sense that he would opt for the cheaper model.
