It is an acronym for local slang for ‘don’t be a jerk.’ He chose it before he realized that his channel would grow to the size that it is.

While he was growing up, his parents mainly spoke English at home, because his dad couldn’t really speak Chinese. This is why his English is so good. . Outside, he was part of video games, he also played basketball with his high school’s team.

After high school, he opted to join the navy along with the rest of his basketball teammates instead of doing national service. He got out 4.5 years into his 6-year conscription because he went on medical leave. He also got a diploma in Mechanical Engineering. After that, he went on to do part-time night shift work, followed by an engineering job.

YDCB started uploading content to YouTube in November 2013. He did so because he had just started playing Summoners War and found himself with a lot of free time on his hands as his mom’s business had just closed down. He initially just did it for fun, but as his channel grew, he decided to take his content creation more seriously. One of the main reasons he enjoys the game so much is because it helps to counter-act his love of gambling. HE only started streaming on Twitch in late 2016.
