Gaming Origins
KOSDFF grew up spending a lot of time doing outdoor activities with his dad such as camping and fishing, as well as participating in sports such as basketball, football and ice-hocking, among others. However, his mom knew that he was intelligent and also made sure that he spent his summers in math camp. They also had a PS1, SNES, Sega Genesis and other things, but that wasn’t their main extracurricular activity.
When he was 12, his dad went on a couple of 4–5-month long business trips to Australia. During this time, KOSDOFF started getting a bit wild and getting into fights with other kids at school. However, after the second trip, his dad insisted that the whole family move to Australia as well to make things easier for everyone. Part of this also involved his dad’s employers paying for their education, clothes, and cars. It was during this time that he started getting really into video games, because outside of going to underage clubs and illegally tagging places with graffiti, he would also go to play video games at his friend’s houses in his spare time.
From there, he befriended other Asian kids who were into StarCraft and Counter-Strike and started going with them to play multiplayer mode at internet cafes until the late hours of the night. Unfortunately, it turned out that they were part of a gang which he wound up joining and started stealing cellphones and electronics. However, his involvement with them eventually got him kicked out of his elite private school and he went to an American international school for his final year of middle school instead. This was a good thing for him, as he stopped hanging out with his gangster friends.
His family returned to the US when he was 16. They moved back to their old house, and he reconnected with his old friends. He focused more on skateboarding during this time.
He then went on to attend UNC Greensboro, where he did so badly due to lack of effort that he failed his first year. His parents forced him to attend Central Piedmont Community College in North Carolina or get kicked out of the house instead. He straightened himself up and managed to get straight As, which allowed him to get into The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy. He then went on to get a degree in law at Oklahoma State University, where his roommate introduced him to Call of Duty: Zombies. However, he took his bar exam in North Carolina. He then worked as pizza delivery boy while working towards his second bar exam.
Professional Gaming
It was while he was between exams that he discovered both YouTube and Call of Duty videos. One of he and his college roommate’s clan members suggested that they submit clips of their gameplays to Machinima. So, they did. KOSDOFF uploaded his first montage to YouTube in March 2012 and realized that he loved creating content.
He never did do his second bar exam, as he realized that it wasn’t for him, and so went on to start a talent agency for YouTubers, where he would review their contracts and do design work for them and just help them to market their brands. Some of his work was volunteer 3D intro work for larger YouTiubers for networking purposes.
Soon after that, one of his connections, Chaosxsilencers, reached out to him with the idea of forming a Call of Duty team. Although he didn’t have the time to run the team, as was suggested, he did join into brainstorm for the formation of Team Kaliber, along with a third member. Thy then officially announced their team in July 2013.
That was when he began focusing primarily on COD content, instead of his variety content that he had been churning out thus far. He started out running the editing division, but as time went on, he became more involved with networking with sponsors, as well as running the other areas of content production as well. These connections panned out and landed him a fulltime job running their social media and 3D content creation for SCUF Gaming in February 2014. He then sold his agency to give him more time to focus on his other roles. He got about one hour sleep per night during that entire first year.
After grinding for a year, he was finally making enough money from YouTube to overshadow what he was earning at SCUF. So, he was able to focus more time on content and TK. He used his own money to rent a team house, and they were able to solidify Team Kaliber into a real organization in early 2016. Later that year, he started streaming on Twitch and was pretty regular until mid-2018, when he sold Tea Kaliber. He returned to streaming in mid-2021.
His language isn’t clean.
