He and his wife have two daughters. His dad worked as a fireman and his mom as a businesswoman while he was growing up. He also has a younger brother.

JoeZieja grew up playing video games and regularly revisits his old favorite titles such as some of the Final Fantasy franchise and Xenogears. When he was 13, he decided that he wanted to join the air force when he grew up and so joined the United States Air Force Academy upon graduating from high school in 2003. He then remained with the air force until 2012, when he retired from his Captain’s position. He then went on to work simultaneously in three different contract positions in government agencies.

After randomly landing a paid voice-acting job for a corporation through a friend in 2013, he decided to pursue it. He was living in Virginia at the time and then moved to Los Angeles in 2015. He continues to work as a voice actor and has provided the voices for a number of anime and video game characters, as well as for advertisements. He is also a published Sci-Fi author. He also does video game remixes for OCRemix and Materia Collective.

Although he first streamed in February 2018, it was only in January 2019 that he made his first serious attempt at it. He has been streaming consistently since late August 2019, although its usually only short sessions.

TwitchStats estimates JoeZieja to have over 2,200 subscribers. This would put his monthly income at around $5,500 USD, at least. This is before he receives further income from tiered subscribers, his freelance work, sponsorships, advertisements, Twitch cheer bit donations and tips.
