Gaming Origins
Faux first started playing RuneScape in 2002 when he was around 12 years old. He was instantly addicted and mained it until around January 2008 when the devs implemented a free trade limit in the wilderness. Although they did so to prevent new players from being scammed by unfair trade offers, the community was very unimpressed by this. He then went on play World of Warcraft (WOW) instead.
After high school, he went on to serve in the military, where he served in Afghanistan until January 2013. After that, he decided to attend college on the GI bill benefits. During that time, he also got back into WOW, but the next month he decided to take another look at the RuneScape website to see what was new. It so happened that that was the very day of the release of Old School RuneScape (OSRS). He immediately bought himself and his younger brother membership. He has continued maining it ever since. He graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in the summer of 2016 and immediately went into full time content creation.
Professional Gaming
Four days after getting into OSRS, his younger brother recommended that he try out streaming, has he had been streaming WOW for a while himself. Faux didn’t really know what it was about but decided to let his brother set it up from him and he was streaming within the first week of the game’s release. He then got lucky as during one of his livestreams, he became the first person to receive a Draconic visage drop in March 2013. This automatically shot him to the top viewership position in the OSRS category. He attributed his success to that moment. Even then, he had not planned to become a professional content creator, as he had only started doing it for fun. It was only after about half a year of streaming that h decided to take it more seriously.
It was in the summer of 2013 that he finally put a donation button on his stream, without really expecting anything to come of it. However, in the fall he decided to take a step back from streaming so that he could focus on his first real semester of college. He only returned to streaming in November that year and received partnership the following month. Once he got the subscriber button, he began to realize that it might be possible for him to develop streaming into something more than a hobby.
Income
According to Faux’s Twitch overlay, he has around 3,400 subscribers. AS he regularly attracts over 1,500 viewers to his channel, this means that he should be earning a minimal monthly income of at least $11,900 USD, excluding additional revenue from tiered subscriptions, donations, merchandise sales, Twitch cheer bit contributions, advertisements and sponsorships.

It’s a measure of luck with Twitch. I think that’s definitely part of the recipe to become anything on Twitch; you have to have some factor of luck in there. It’s just too hard to break through, and if [the visage drop] didn’t happen, I don’t know man.
