Nicholas ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff is drumming up support for the Warzone defection, urging top streamers like TimTheTatman, Aydan, and others to abandon Call of Duty’s battle royale in favor of Apex Legends.
After being disappointed by the new Caldera map in Call of Duty: Battle Royale, former Warzone star NICKMERCS has firmly planted his Apex Legends flag.
From the game’s release in 2020 to his shocking defection in August, the popular Twitch streamer was unquestionably Warzone’s biggest star, but he hasn’t touched the CoD battle royale since. Now he’s urging other top stars to follow in his footsteps on a more permanent basis, recommending Apex Legends as the “best new option.”
Kolcheff claims that the Call of Duty franchise title has had “long enough” to claim the top spot in gaming, but has instead fumbled the bag. With the game’s popularity waning, now is the ideal time to try something new.
Nickmercs said that it has been a cycle that he has been watching every year since Call of Duty started leaning into calendar releases, he explained. Before the release of the new game, the hype builds to a fever pitch, and everyone buys into it until they realize what kind of “lazy” update they’ve been given.
He also made no secret of his preference for Apex Legends over Warzone these days, regularly grinding the Respawn battle royale for up to ten hours a day in his quest to become a pro in the game.
With the exception of his brief Warzone stream in early December, he hasn’t touched the game in months. NICKMERCS warned on the eve of Caldera’s massive release that he wouldn’t change his mind about the game, which he claims is a second-rate rival to Apex Legends after its failures.
