The Cromulons stage, based on the “Get Schwifty” episode of the comedy cartoon’s second season, was intended to be unlocked by reaching 10 million ring-outs, and players were able to do so in just three hours after the announcement.
It’s the first new stage to be added to the game since the beta’s beginning, and it arrives just before the playable Rick and Morty pair join the cast on August 9.
Players have noticed Rick Sanchez occasionally showing up in the game’s lobby despite its scheduled August launch. This has raised the possibility that some hackers may have already gained access to the character.
The most recent addition to the cast is basketball player LeBron James, who is dressed in his Space Jam 2 outfit. A recent tweet from the MultiVersus Twitter account may be hinting that The Lord of the Rings will be the next crossover after Rick and Morty.
A datamine corroborates this from May that identified characters being added to the cast, including LeBron James and Rick and Morty. Other well-known figures like Scooby-Doo and Godzilla were also named, in addition to Gandalf and Legolas from The Lord of the Rings. There isn’t an official confirmation, though, at the time of publication.
