Despite portraying her online persona as slightly silly and cute, she is actually highly intelligent as she was studying Chemical Engineering prior to dropping out of college during her second year to focus on developing and marketing her brand.

Therefore, its worth taking note of Pokimane’s gaming setup uses if you are interested in producing vlog-based or gaming content, and if you have an established community and income to justify the price of some of these pieces. It’s also important to note that she is sponsored by HyperX, which has likely influenced her choice of equipment.

POKIMANE’S WEBCAM

Pokimane uses a sony alpha a6000 webcam

Pokimane setup also includes a Sony Alpha a6000 Camera with a 16-50mm lens. Pokimane’s gaming setup features an SLR digital camera rather than a regular webcam, likely due to a large portion of her stream focusing on chatting and IRL content, as well a the fact that she is a prominent streamer who requires a more professional look to her channel than would be expected of smaller streamers.

The Sony a6000 is designed to be much smaller than a regular DSLR camera so that it is relatively easy to transport and use on day-to-day basis. Its basic capabilities include its having an ISO range of 100-25,600, the ability to record videos at up to Full HD 1920 x 1080 at 24p or fast-paced action shots at 60p and 60i frame-rates. All of these can be instantly shared to a smartphone or tablet through either WiFi or NFC communication with the press of a button.

However, it can only last 2-3 hours with continuous usage and the Lithium Metal battery takes about 4-5 hours to charge. So, it may not be the best choice for an amateur videographer, but could be ok for a V-logger, especially if they bring spare batteries along. But, if you’re just starting out and you’re not really planning on doing anything that requires high-quality recording, it would probably be better to stick with a basic plug-and-play webcam.
