Many Twitch streamers, including Pokimane, have addressed the subject of why viewers contribute large sums of money to Twitch streams. She has a straightforward response to the topic that has been circulating in the community for quite some time as she believes that viewers contribute large sums of money to popular streamers just to catch their attention.

Here’s what she said; “People donate because they want someone’s attention. And if anything, the richer someone becomes, the more valuable their attention becomes.”

She explained that it is just to express their support and get the streamer’s attention. She explained that a large sum would attract the streamer’s attention, so they would automatically include the donor’s name and thank them for their generosity. It is because of this attention that people are willing to donate large sums of money.

Furthermore, the co-founder of RTS said that people do not always think about spending in a logical manner. As a result, they may consider spending money on their favorite streamers to be justified.

Pokimane’s fans, on the other hand, disagree with her on this point. People donate to streamers, they feel, just as a show of appreciation and to demonstrate their support in whatever way they see fit.

Pokimane used to be the recipient of some of the most generous donations on Twitch. However, she soon imposed a $5 donation cap on her account, so that people would refrain from donating huge amounts to her. Instead, she urged her fans to donate to smaller streamers who could use their generous support more than her.

When her earnings were leaked in the recent Twitch breach, fans were shocked that the streamer only made roughly $38K a month from Twitch. However, Pokimane assured her fans that the amount she made from Twitch subs and donations did not constitute a major part of her earnings.
