Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg, the YouTube king, argues that the hit Netflix series Squid Game is nothing more than a ripoff of other anime with similar plots.
This was revealed in his most recent video, in which he also played the popular Roblox game mode Squid Game. Despite his criticisms of the series’ beginnings, PewDiePie confessed that he enjoyed playing it.
Squid Game, for those who don’t know, is a Korean TV show that is similar to The Hunger Games and has elements of battle royale games. In a nutshell, impoverished contestants must accomplish numerous children’s games in order to win a significant quantity of money, with fatal implications for those who fail to complete the challenges.
PewDiePie said in his video with the title, “I cheated in Squid Game Roblox,” which he released on October 4th, that he felt compelled to play the game because of its enormous popularity. This was followed by him criticizing the show, stating that it was essentially a “ripoff” of other animes while displaying images of numerous animes on-screen.
Here’s what he stated; “Why is no one talking about how Squid Game is ripping off all these anime, like Kaiji and Liar Game. Ain’t nothing new, right? Plus what was fun about those shows was the fact that the protagonist was actually kind of smart”.
Despite his criticism of the series’ originality, PewDiePie revealed that he had not yet finished watching all of the episodes before moving on to the Roblox adaptation.
PewDiePie remarked at the end of his youtube video that the game was “very fun” and that he had a great time. Only time will tell if he feels the same way about the Squid Game series.
