The founder of OpTic Gaming Hector Rodriguez HECZ recently shared his $100,000 sneaker closet to show off some of his most expensive and ugliest footwear.
HECZ explains in the first episode of Creator Tours that he couldn’t get a lot of kicks when he was younger, but he’s certainly made up for it now, judging by the vast array of sneakers in his home. He has a closet full of sneakers, ranging from Jordans to Yeezys, and his collection is only getting bigger.
From hypebeast favorites like the Air Jordan 4 KAWS and Boost 750s to guilty pleasure pairs like his “ugly, overpriced crocs,” also known as the Yeezy Foam RNNRs, HECZ love for sneakers is undeniable.
Only 12,000 pairs of Nike’s Air Jordan 1 Trophy Room were made in a limited-edition release, retailing for $190. The 41-year-old made a memorable purchase, but it came at a high price.
He said in his biggest sneaker regret that he ufortunately wasn’t paying attention, and he was a little dumb and paid the same price for the shoes as he did for the Friends & Family. Despite the fact that it isn’t F&F, HECZ was able to secure pair #4,228 for $5,900. While he has plenty of heat in his closet, this one has the most expensive price tag.
There are holy grails, and then there are everyday comfortable sneakers. HECZ is known as one of the busiest people in esports, and according to him, his go-to kicks are the Undefeated x Adidas Ultraboost. He said that the Undefeated Ultraboosts will forever be his favorite shoes he wants to wear and that he can wear these all day long at any E3, any Twitchcon, any MLG event, and that his feet will never hurt.
He has two pairs of each of the white and black Undefeated UBs, which he wears all year long.
The Jordan 1s hold a special place in HECZ’s childhood memories of Juarez. Young Hector adored his Jordache trainers, one of many athletic wear items influenced by the AJ1s, even before he knew about His Airness’ legacy.
He used to wear Jordaches when he lived in Juarez, Mexico and at the time, he didn’t even know who Michael Jordan was and explained that he remembered thinking the way people spelled ‘Jordan’ was ‘Jordache’ when he was a kid in Mexico and didn’t speak English.’ He assumed Americans spoke English because that’s how they said ‘Jordache,’ not ‘Jordan.’”
HECZ is now one of the most accomplished figures in Call of Duty and esports in general, but he still considers the classic silhouette to be his all-time favorite sneaker. He owns two pairs of these, describing them as the ugliest shoe he has ever seen and they’re the Yeezy Foam RNNRs, and they could not be more unappealing to the OG boss– but he adores them.
He explained that he’s not going to go the ‘hypebeast’ route, where he doesn’t get something because it’s super valuable but to give people an example, he shared the look of the “ugliest” shoes.
He highly recommends the Foam RNNRs if you don’t mind ugly shoes and don’t mind spending around $775 for a pair. His $100,000 sneaker collection revealed many unique pieces, including the MF DOOM Dunks and classic Jordan 3 Breds.
