While World of Warcraft Shadowlands was a smash hit when it first came out, Caroline ‘Naguura’ Forer, a Team Liquid content creator, discusses the challenges of streaming the divisive WoW expansion on Twitch as the hype faded.

WoW Shadowlands, the most recent expansion for World of Warcraft, promised an expansive world thrown into chaos by Sylvanas Windrunner, a longtime antagonist, and the Jailer, an otherworldly entity turned Thanos-style villain.

However, for many of the game’s players, it was anything but. A lack of substantial content pushed Twitch stars like Asmongold and Preach Gaming to make their way to the shores of Final Fantasy XIV‘s Eorzea and Lost Ark‘s Arkesia, making these new worlds their home, despite unpopular narrative choices and slow responses to community feedback.

Naguura, a Team Liquid content creator and Twitch sensation, was among those who left Azeroth, branching out to games like Valorant and League of Legends to satisfy her gaming needs.

It’ll be interesting to see if new blood can rejuvenate Azeroth’s age-old story and turn it into a Twitch behemoth like Lost Ark, as the PvP scene continues to thrive and there’s also no doubt it will continue to thrive in the next WoW expansion.

In any case, we can expect Naguura to return to the fray as the mystery surrounding what’s next for our cast of heroes and villains begins to lift.
