Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of the My Hero Academia series, has shared some of his best New Year’s Day celebration sketches. The series had a huge year in 2021, with the original manga kicking off the story’s Final Act, the anime’s fifth season airing all year, and the third feature film hitting theaters all over the world. It’s at an all-time high as we head into the new year, and fans are excited to see what Horikoshi has in store for all of their favorite characters in the days and months ahead.
Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of the My Hero Academia series, posted some celebratory sketches to his Twitter account to mark the start of 2022, though it’s not exactly a preview of what’s in store for Izuku Midoriya and the other heroes in the coming year. This includes a new sketch of Eri and a few others celebrating the new year with a festival, as well as a new sketch of the Wild, Wild Pussycats dressed in tiger stripes to celebrate the Tiger’s new year.
In the coming year, fans of My Hero Academia are expecting a lot from the anime and manga series. The anime will not return until October as part of the Fall 2022 anime schedule, but it will begin the sixth season of the series, which will officially adopt the manga’s Paranormal Liberation Front War arc. Horikoshi said that if everything goes according to plan in the near future, the manga should be finished in a year.
Horikoshi is still not yet revealing what plan he has for the rest of the Final Act, but it’s clear that the series’ end game is now being set in motion as fans eagerly read through each new entry to see how it all will end. If everything goes as planned for My Hero Academia, 2022 could be even bigger than 2021.
