Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park has spoken out about NFTs and how they may benefit video game players in the long run.

Shinoda, who took to Twitter to provide a balanced view of the potential of NFTs in the gaming space after the four-track project ‘ZIGGURATS’ sold out in minutes, shared the four-track project ‘ZIGGURATS’ after the 5,000 NFTs of it sold out in minutes.

He went on to say that the current system of purchasing skins limits their use and value because they aren’t truly owned. They’re trapped within the game. The alternative is that their belongings aren’t stuck. Outside of the game, it’s theirs. Even if the game is no longer played, their belongings remain theirs.

In recent weeks and months, NFTs in the video game industry have either failed or been met with a massive backlash from the community. Square Enix president Yosuke Matsudsa revealed Square Enix’s NFT plans, which included the sentiment that “play for fun” gamers would be outweighed by “play to earn” gamers, which enraged many fans.
