Stardew Valley’s creator ConcernedApe says he doesn’t know if there will be another update of the game because he’s focused on his next game.

Eric Barone AKA ConcernedApe answered some questions from the community during a Twitch interview with Zach Hartman AKA UnsurpassableZ at the end of the first official Stardew Valley Cup, one of which was about mods that allow players to marry non-marriage-able people in the smash hit farming game.

ConcernedApe responded by explaining why it would be “just a tonne of work” to make almost everyone in the game marriageable and explained why he hasn’t added any more people because to make someone a marriage candidate, he need to add a lot of dialogue and at least two additional events, both of which take a long time. It may not appear to be a big deal, but they take a long time to complete and added that there’s a lot more to do, including preparing the spouse’s room.

It’s just that there’s a lot to it. So that’s why he didn’t just go ahead and add more marriage candidates. However, he sees no reason why he shouldn’t have more and still believe it would be enjoyable.

ConcernedApe also revealed that he has two existing NPCs in mind for a good marriage candidate, before clarifying that this isn’t something in active development – no doubt to keep the Stardew Valley community calm.

He stated that he is not implying that there will be another Stardew Valley update but at this point, he’s not sure because he is currently concentrating on his next game and see what happens.

The Ginger Island location and the Beach Farm layout were added to Stardew Valley’s 1.5 update, which was released late last year and was the game’s biggest yet. Players have been wondering if a 1.6 update was in the works since then, but it appears that ConcernedApe is done with Stardew Valley for the time being, which is understandable given his ten-year involvement.

So, what exactly is this new game? During the Q&A, he mentioned it briefly and said he might announce it soon.
