One of the most popular Twitch streamers these days, Sykkuno has recently disclosed how much his profits have dropped since the height of Among Us, with his YouTube channel suffering a particularly hard impact.
The internet was in a frenzy after the supposedly overnight triumph of Among Us. Although InnerSloth’s party game had been around since 2018, it wasn’t until the second half of 2020 that it really took off. From that moment forth, everyone became interested. Memes and highlights from both casual players and celebs flooded social media. Of course, the increased popularity of Among Us aided content creators as well, with Sykkuno and the Amigops – Disguised Toast, Valkyrae, and Corpse Husband – playing a key role.
Before abandoning the game in May of 2021, the four made enormous success riding the game’s surge of popularity. Though a handful of them have reappeared for one-off special lobbies on occasion.
Even though Among Us is no longer active, they continue to have success in other games, with Sykkuno becoming a major player in the GTA RP genre. However, in terms of earnings, he revealed that he isn’t quite at the level of Among Us.
During his Twitch live broadcast on October 2, the Twitch star discussed how being a Twitch streamer is a “unstable” job since you rely on so many external things before giving an example of his own.
Here’s what he said; “From YouTube alone, I make about 10% as much as I did from the Among Us days. I know people think streamers make a lot of money, but it’s only been a few months, and I make 10 times less money than before. I don’t think I’m poor, but it’s super unstable how much you make.”
Sykkuno admitted that he’s always been a bit frugal, and he’s being cautious now that he’s seen how dramatically things can change in just a few months. Of course, he’s still having a lot of success on Twitch — according to TwitchTracker, he recently achieved 35,000 followers during his Subathon – but things might quickly go worse.
