Greekgodx was banned for saying that his partners belonged in the kitchen, but he claims it was for a completely different reason.
The controversial variety streamer Dimitri “Greekgodx” Antonatos, who has over 1.5 million followers, was banned from Twitch today after a stream that featured a sexist tirade about the place of women in his life. Although the reason for the ban is unclear, Antonatos claimed on Twitter that it had to do with twerking while watching the same stream.
The rant in question starts with Antonatos addressing any women or female streamers who want to date him. He then refers to this situation as a team effort and claims that, believe it or not, streaming is bad for my mental health. Shortly after the stream ended, Twitch banned the Greekgodx channel, so the entire stream is no longer accessible.
Although Antonatos holds outdated and sexist views on relationships, it’s unclear whether these remarks actually prompted his expulsion. The alleged twerking incident that got Antonatos banned appears to have been caught on camera by one viewer.
This may be against Twitch’s policies against sexual content, which are summarized in the community guidelines but are currently quite detailed. Accordingly, sexually suggestive content or activities are forbidden, his tirade might be in violation of Twitch’s policies against hate speech and harassment, which forbid any content or actions that “promote or encourage discrimination, denigration, harassment, or violence” based on a variety of grounds, including sex and gender, among others.
Streamers are not always given an explanation for bans by Twitch, as the high-profile case of Dr Disrespect showed. Antonatos reiterated that the twerk got him banned and stated he’ll be back in 72 hours.
