On April 12, 2022, G4TV will host their Lost Ark Invitational. The entertainment brand will invite streamers and players to compete for a prize pool of $20.000.
G4TV is an entertainment company that began in 2002 with the goal of producing general gaming and esports content. The company was a Comcast-owned television channel that specialized in gaming programming. Last year, the company rebranded to include a return to television, as well as the addition of several esports personalities, including Ovilee May and Indiana “Froskurinn” Black, who used to stream League of Legends.
At the moment, Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of the most popular games on the planet. According to Twitchtracker.com, the game has a daily average of 35,000 viewers and a peak of 1.2 million concurrent viewers. It is one of the many new MMORPGs that have entered the market to challenge World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy 14. The game was previously only available in South Korea, but Amazon Studios brought it to the west in early January 2022.
Lost Ark’s main Player vs Player mode, a classic arena format, will be featured at G4’s invitational. These are instanced rooms that give players and teams their own private battlegrounds, with 3v3 deathmatch, 3v3 with individual 1v1 arenas, and a 6 player free for all modes available. While it is unknown which option the invitational will choose, the 3v3 deathmatch option, which has been used in previous Lost Ark PvP competitions, is the most likely. Other MMORPG PvP competitions use the 3v3 deathmatch mode as well. Arena World Championships in World of Warcraft are the most common.
The invitational will feature a $20,000 prize pool and will be broadcast live on G4TV’s Twitch channel on April 12, 2022, at 6 p.m. EST.
