By making his Halloween costume all about the reveal and the response, content creator Dream made light of the criticism he received online after posting his face reveal video.

Minecraft streamer Dream finally let his fans see his face at the start of October. The creator of the content had previously remained unidentified, but after years of promising a face reveal, Clay finally took off his mask and revealed his identity. And while many of his peers in the industry were eager to applaud the reveal, his legion of fans and other social media users flooded Twitter and other online platforms with memes and unfavorable remarks about his appearance.

“He’s Ugly” was one of the top topics on Twitter at the time of the reveal of his face. Dream’s Halloween costume, despite being straightforward, is a powerful reference to the occasion as a means of quelling the doubters and also addressing the critical online feedback. Dream shared a photo on Twitter of himself, two friends, and all of us are sporting match shirts. All of the aforementioned t-shirts feature Dream’s visage from his reveal video. Dream’s costume included the phrase “I don’t need a Halloween costume, my face reveal was scary enough” in addition to the image.

Dream has become considerably more comfortable making public appearances since the disclosure and has even started producing more videos sans his mask.

Dream’s first post-reveal piece of content was a film made in association with Technoblade’s father with the intention of promoting cancer research and raising funds for it.
