After falling victim to a pretty suspect player, Dr Disrespect accused the Call of Duty: Warzone developers of false advertising over the Ricochet anti-cheat.
Despite Warzone’s recent success, the battle royale’s problems with cheaters and hackers have been well documented. Raven Software has banned many cheaters over the years, but the CoD: Vanguard integration was the first to include an anti-cheat system.
While the anti-cheat system seemed to be working well at the start of the integration period, players have complained about a recent influx of cheaters who claim to have discovered a way to make their cheats undetectable.
Dr Disrespect, who, like many others, took a break from Warzone when cheaters got out of hand, has his doubts about Ricochet being fully operational at the moment and settled in for a small session of Warzone during his January 7 stream when he ran into a few issues, mostly with his connection to the servers.
However, before he could address those issues, he was eliminated by a player who appeared to be a little suspicious. They’d pre-fired at The Doc before he was even visible behind cover, proving that their aim was spot on.
Many viewers commented that they’d recently run into hackers after a period without them, prompting the Doc to seek answers from his viewers.
It’s impossible to say whether something has changed to allow cheaters to get around Ricochet’s checks, but it appears that they’re becoming more common. However, we’ll have to wait and see if any more changes are made to get rid of them.
