Although CouRageJD is now primarily known as being a fulltime streamer as well as his “unrequited love” for Ariana Grande, he actually got his start as a caster for MLG after catching a lucky break while interning for them in 2014. However, he is still recognized as being a skilled fps gamer and often streams with other top content creators such as Ninja and TimTheTatman. Therefore, despite his sponsorship by Razer, it is still worthwhile to consider the equipment in CouRageJD’s gaming setup, as he wouldn’t settle for peripheral’s that might harm his production quality and undermine his gaming skills.
WHAT MONITOR DOES COURAGEJD USE?
CouRageJD uses four BenQ XL2411P monitors. The BenQ XL2411P is a 24-inch gaming monitor that allows for a 144Hz refresh rate and a 1920 x 1080 display resolution. Its height can be adjusted between 42.9 – 55.9cm and can swivel left or right at 45°, tilt at between -5 and ~20°. It also has VESA wall mount capabilities of 10cm.
It is important to note that you will only be able to actualize its 144Hz potential if your system can process at that rate.
WHAT MOUSE DOES COURAGEJD USE?
CouRageJD uses a Razer DeathAdder V2 mouse. The Razer DeathAdder V2 mouse is an upgraded version of the Razer DeathAdder Chroma. It now features a 20,000dpi optical sensor, which is double the dpi of the previous version. The sensor has a 650ips tracking speed.
It is a right-handed RGB mouse with dimensions of 7.89 x 12.7 x 4.29 cm (2.87 x 5.00 x 1.69”) and weighs around 82g (2.89oz), making it a relatively small mouse with an average weight. It also has texturized rubber side grips as well as two feet made of 100% PTFE in order to aid with controlling the mouse.
Furthermore, it has eight programable button. These include the right and left click keys, the scroll wheel, two dpi buttons beneath the scroll wheel, two on the right-thumb side and one o the underside for switching between profiles. Up to five profiles can be set directly on the mouse through the Razer Synapse 3 software, as can the dpi profile settings. However, this requires registering the mouse with Razer first.
WHAT KEYBOARD DOES COURAGEJD USE?
CouRageJD uses a Razer BlackWidow Chroma Stealth keyboard. The Razer Razer BlackWidow Chroma Stealth was originally released in 2010 and is currently out of production. It is a full-sized RGB keyboard with five programmable macro keys laid out in a column on its left side. It utilizes silent Razer Orange switches and also has a USB 2.0 and audio pass through.
WHAT HEADSET DOES COURAGEJD USE?
CouRageJD uses a Razer Kraken headset. The Razer Kraken is an open-backed, over-ear stereo headset has a retractable, noise-isolating microphone. It has 50mm drivers with Neodymium magnets, a frequency response range of 12 – 28,000Hz, and impedance of 32Ohms @1kHz and a sensitivity of 109dB @1kHz.
It is built on a bauxite aluminum frame and weighs ~ 358.3g (0.79 lbs). The headband is padded, flexible and adjustable. The ear-cups are also padded, but with cooling gel-infused ear cushions that are covered with a leatherette fabric in order to prevent discomfort over long-term use caused by over heating.
It also features in-line audio controls which include an analogue volume control wheel and a microphone mute switch. They are powered with a 3.5mm jack.
WHAT MICROPHONE DOES COURAGEJD USE?
CouRageJD uses a Shure SM7B microphone. The Shure SM7B is one of the most popular microphones among streamers, including Fresh, Loeya and Cloakzy, among others. It is a dynamic microphone that has a frequency response range of 50 – 20,000Hz, an impedance of 150Ohms and a sensitivity of -59dB. It is designed specifically for professional music and vocal recordings and as such includes an external A7WS detachable windscreen and internal pop filter to prevent unwanted electrical and plosive sounds from filtering into the recordings.
However, although this mic doesn’t require phantom power to run, n it does require an XLR cable, so you will need to invest in an audio interface and XLR cable in order to operate it, in addition to a microphone stand. It does come with a captive stand nut, though.
WHAT WEBCAM DOES COURAGEJD USE?
CouRageJD uses a Sony a6300 mirrorless camera. CorageJD’s gaming setup includes a Sony Alpha a6300 4Kcamera that has a 4D autofocus that can shoot at up to 11fps with 425 phase detection auto focus points that can lock onto a subject within 0.05 seconds. It is capable of shooting Full HD footage at 120fps with a bit rate of up to 100Mbps.When using the 4K feature, it can record full HD at 50Mps. It can also record 4x/5x slow motion movies when set at 30p or 24p for instant slow-motion footage. Of course, another major benefit of this camera is this compact size and weight that makes it easier to carry around.
However, its diminutive size of 15.75 x 14.45 x 13.21cm (6.2 x 5.7 x 5.2”) means that they also had to reduce certain additional features, such as only having one SD slot and one Lithium ion battery that can be charged directly inside the camera by means of the micro USB cable that is included with it. However, the battery isn’t that long-lasting, so you might need to carry extra batteries or portable chargers with you if you are planning on using this for IRL vlogging.
This is obviously a professional, high-quality camera, so if you’re looking into getting it to start up a new basic gaming or sitting and chatting channel, you might want to consider starting out with a simple plug-and-play webcam, especially as in addition to the high base cost, you will also require additional hardware such as an HDMI cable, camera stand, and a capture card which will further increase the overall cost.
