Brittany Murphy was a successful, beautiful, and talented actress, and the news of her untimely and strange death at the age of 32 shocked the entertainment industry. To this day, rumors abound about what murdered the starlet, who appeared to be in the prime of her career and life.

A new docuseries tries to answer that question, or at the very least shed additional light on her sad death.

Last week, HBO released the trailer for the two-part HBO Max series, which will premiere on the streaming platform on Thursday.

The “intimate, in-depth character biography of actress Brittany Murphy” claims to delve “beyond the headlines” into the circumstances surrounding her death. Her death was caused by pneumonia, with iron deficiency anemia playing a role. Simon Monjack, her husband, died five months later in the same Los Angeles house of the same circumstances.

According to one character in the teaser, Monjack was an accused con man who kept Murphy away from her friends and loved ones.

He was arrested in 2005 and 2006 on charges of credit card fraud and theft.

“What Happened, Brittany Murphy?” delves into the numerous rumors and conspiracy theories surrounding her and her husband’s deaths.

Angelo Bertolotti, Murphy’s father, revealed on “Good Morning America” in 2013 that he believes his daughter was poisoned.

He stated, “I have a sense there was a definite murder situation here.”

Sharon Murphy, Murphy’s mother, has firmly rejected rumors that she shared a bed with Monjack after Murphy’s murder.

The trailer also explores the actor’s misogynistic demands to meet Hollywood’s standards.

As the film delves into her extraordinary weight reduction and makeover, one individual notes, “She wasn’t a typical gorgeous girl.” In flicks like “8 Mile,” she was noticeably slimmer.

Archival footage and interviews with people “closest to” Murphy will be featured in the docuseries.
